同济大学英语专业经过30余年发展，已形成从学士到博士、学术型与专业型兼备的完整培养体系，专业底蕴深厚、研究特色鲜明。2020年获批国家一流本科专业建设点，2025年在软科中国大学专业排名中获评A+，同年正式更名为“英语（数智人文）”。

本专业对接国家战略与新文科建设方向，围绕“语言能力+人文涵养+数智素养”三位一体核心理念，遵循“数智赋能人文教育，语言驱动思辨创新”的培养原则，打造特色课程体系，致力于培养具有扎实语言功底、卓越思辨能力、广阔国际视野、优秀数智素养与深厚人文情怀的社会栋梁与专业精英。

现有教师30人，其中教授12人、副教授17人，10余人次入选国家及上海市高层次人才计划，3人次任教育部高校教指委委员；在翻译传播、特殊人群语言、语言安全及语言科学等领域，形成具有引领和辐射效应的研究布局；先后荣获教育部高校科研优秀成果奖（人文社科）一等奖、三等奖，上海市教学成果一等奖，上海市哲社优秀成果二等奖。学生在“外研社·国才杯”演讲辩论赛、“挑战杯”、中国国际大学生创新大赛等高水平赛事中屡获佳绩，“拾忆”“益语”等社会服务项目先后登上“榜样100”全国大学生优秀社团榜；与伦敦大学学院、华威大学、新南威尔士大学、阿尔伯塔大学等海外名校建立交流合作平台。近三年毕业生平均深造率约70%，就业领域涵盖外事、金融、教育、国际交流、新闻媒体等行业，社会声誉良好。

Welcome to the Department of English at Tongji University

After more than three decades of development, the English program at Tongji University has established a comprehensive educational system spanning B.A., M.A., Ph.D. and MTI degrees, with solid disciplinary foundations and distinctive research strengths. The program was designated as a National First-Class Undergraduate Program in 2020, rated A+ in the 2025 Best Chinese Majors Ranking, and renamed “English (Digital and Intelligent Humanities) ” in the same year.

Aligned with national strategies and the New Liberal Arts initiative, the program is grounded in the integrated philosophy of “language competence, humanistic cultivation, and digital-intelligent literacy” and the principle of “digital intelligence empowering humanistic education, and language driving critical innovation.” Through a distinctive curriculum, the program is dedicated to cultivating future leaders and professionals equipped with a solid linguistic foundation, outstanding critical thinking, a broad international vision, strong digital literacy, and deep humanistic sensibility.

The program has a faculty of 30, including 12 professors and 17 associate professors. More than ten faculty members have been selected for national- and Shanghai-level High-Level Talent Programs, and three have been appointed as members of Higher Education Teaching Steering Committees under the Ministry of Education.  The program has developed a research portfolio with leading and far-reaching impact in translation and communication, language studies of special populations, language security, and language sciences. Recent honors include the First and Third Prizes of the Ministry of Education’s Outstanding Research Achievement Award in Humanities and Social Sciences, the First Prize of the Shanghai Municipal Teaching Achievement Award, and the Second Prize of the Shanghai Award for Outstanding Achievements in Philosophy and Social Sciences. Students have excelled in major contests including the FLTRP·ETIC Cup English Speech and Debate Contests, the Challenge Cup, and the China International College Students’ Innovation Competition; service-learning initiatives such as “Memory Care” and “Children’s Language Service” have been listed among China’s Top 100 Outstanding Student Organizations. Active partnerships have been established with University College London, the University of Warwick, the University of New South Wales, the University of Alberta, and other prestigious universities. Over the past three years, around 70% of graduates have pursued further studies on average, while others have entered foreign affairs, finance, education, international exchange, and the media, earning a strong professional reputation.
